About
Maya Asakura Halbert is a freelance art director & designer specializing in live experiences. With a background in events and architecture in both New York City and Tokyo, she brings an aesthetically-driven, culturally-contextual awareness to each project.
Known as a Swiss Army knife of event design, she excels from concept to completion— blending creative strategy, 2D/3D design, and on-site art direction into seamless experiences. Over the past 10+ years, she has collaborated with many teams to produce memorable, award-winning experiences for clients such as Google, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Tiffany & Co, HBO and more.
In addition to experiential design, Maya is a paper artist whose work has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens and InStyle magazines. A lifetime dancer, she also directs and choreographs for an all-female dance studio she co-founded in Tokyo in 2022.
